Here’s what’s in the works and likely to be filed in the coming weeks.

• Rural Open Carry – (unlicensed open carry in rural/unincorporated areas).
• Open Carry – Altes (near duplicate of Oklahoma’s recent law).
• Church Carry Option – (will try to run in House/Senate at the same time – looks very good this year! Same bill as 2011).
• College Faculty Carry – Collins (same bill as 2011).
• School Teacher Carry – Hutchinson (Study group formed).
• Firearms Freedom Bill

One bill related to CHCL’s and former LEO’s has already been prefiled: www.arkleg.state.ar.us/assembly/2013/201...spx?measureno=HB1014

The Senate Judiciary is finally stacked with individuals likely to support such measures. Once again, even with a Republican majority, it appears the House Judiciary will be a problem but not necessarily something that can’t be won over.

It appears the new Arkansas Republican majority is worried about Open Carry because of the loud voices of LEO’s in Arkansas. They don’t want a fight with law enforcement. Contact them and voice YOUR concern as well!

Collins / College Staff Carry: 5newsonline.com/2012/12/20/state-lawmake...uld-be-packing-heat/

This is great news, I've been in touch with the Representative Critters and they all feel we can finally make some progress this year.

Employer parking lot carry is important to many. Has anybody heard about any bills that will be introduced that may cover this?

I understand that LEO's have a voice but what I don't understand is why they are so afraid of OC? I would think OC would be safer because you would know that person is armed rather than question or guess. How does a little peace of cloth keep one safe.

As far as public disturbances or safety how about the other 43 states that one can OC in, I've OC in many states and only few people notice and even fewer question but not one freaked out.

Israel arms their teachers they don't have mass shootings in their schools and they live in a war zone.

Also employee parking lot should be considered.

Ok, I'm watching all the legislation being filed and have not yet seen any gun bills except the one for ex LEO's; any word from our Man Altes?

The State Police will oppose any open carry bill that might cut into their power to control who carries or the money they make off of CHL's.
I can't count the number of times they've told me they "don't get involved in making laws, only enforcing them", only to see them at the Capital lobbying against our proposals.

Wonder why. That seems like some of the lower hanging fruit, compared to some of the other bills.
